Principal Amanda Downing is pleased to share that the Inter-Lakes Middle/High School Lakerbots robotics team visited Sandwich Central School on Monday to inspire future generations of engineers and problem-solvers.

Lakerbots team members Hayden Brunelle, Danielle Cornelissen, Leo Kusch, Mason Lakis, and Caleb Theriault presented to students on Monday, Nov. 13, following an introduction from SCS Principal Jeremy Hillger and High School teacher Joe Derrick, the Lakerbots’ lead mentor.

Team members described the skills they learned and challenges they faced, and then answered questions from students.

The team also gave a demonstration of robot Rattlesnake (named after Rattlesnake Island in Lake Winnipesaukee), which participated in last year’s First Robotics Competition.

“As our students tackle real-world engineering challenges, learn technical skills and have amazing experiences with the Lakerbots, we strive to increase access to STEAM education for all in our community,” Derrick said.

The Lakerbots will be continuing their community service in December by visiting the New Hampshire Veterans Home for caroling and a robot demonstration.

“The Lakerbots are great ambassadors and role models for Inter-Lakes,” Principal Downing said. “It is impressive to see their love of robotics and their willingness to share their knowledge with younger students.”
