Uxbridge Public Schools Awarded Grant Funding to Support Professional Development

UXBRIDGE — Superintendent Michael Baldassarre and Director of Technology and Digital Learning Jessica Brittingham are pleased to share that Uxbridge Public Schools was recently awarded grant funding to support professional development for teachers.

In early November Uxbridge was selected by MassCUE to participate in the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s Building Capacity for High-Quality Instruction through EdTech Grant Program.

The grant, awarded by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) provides funds for districts to adopt or expand capacity-building programming that builds the collective expertise of educators to utilize technology to deliver high-quality instruction.

Uxbridge district staff will receive $8,200 for stipends and 360 hours of professional development training to establish professional learning programs for educators to develop skills in leveraging educational technology to improve student learning experiences.

“On behalf of the entire district, I would like to thank the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for this generous grant,” said Superintendent Baldassarre. “This program will allow our educators to further develop their skills to support our students both inside and outside of the classroom.”

Through this program, Uxbridge Public Schools plans to implement two pathways — the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) pathway and Building Capacity through Digital Equity (BCDE) pathway — by December.

DESE also funds programming that allows districts to meet their teaching and learning goals through technology.

“Since Jessica Brittingham has taken the lead position in our technology department, a lot has happened – and Uxbridge is moving more quickly than anticipated in our tech-dominated educational environment,” said Superintendent Baldassarre. “We are so proud of Jessica and her department for this and so much else!”
