CARVER — The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps is ready to kick off its iconic Red Kettle fundraising campaign for 2023 at its annual Red Kettle Kickoff event in Carver on Tuesday evening.

The Red Kettle Campaign is especially needed now to meet the increasing needs of millions of families living in the United States and right here in Massachusetts. The Salvation Army, the nation’s largest private provider of social services, will not stop working to provide Christmas gifts, food, shelter, and rent and utility assistance to millions of people struggling this holiday season and beyond — no matter the cost.

WHEN:

Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 4:30 p.m.

WHERE:

Carver Town Hall Gazebo, 108 Main St., Carver

WHAT:

The Salvation Army will kick off the non-profit’s iconic Red Kettle fundraising campaign in Carver, bringing together businesses, community partners and others for a fun evening of music, hot chocolate, and more.

Funds collected at Christmas and throughout the year are essential to The Salvation Army’s seasonal and yearly relief efforts. The Salvation Army anticipates more families than ever will seek holiday help this year, given rising inflation and poverty rates. Giving to red kettles is a holiday tradition for many, but people are often surprised to learn that the money raised stays directly in the community and will benefit neighbors in need.

In 2022, The Salvation Army in Plymouth provided toys, clothing and winter supplies to 350 Carver-area children and distributed 135 food gift baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Salvation Army hopes to provide even more assistance than what was provided last year through this year’s Red Kettle Campaign. The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps’ season of giving in Carver will begin at this year’s kickoff event.

This year’s event will feature the North River Brass Quintet performing holiday favorites prior to opening remarks given by Plymouth Corps Envoy Anne Rich. Envoy Rich will introduce Director of North River Brass Quintet Tim Mauri ahead of a sing-along. WATD owner Ed Perry will be this year’s special guest. Town of Carver Town Administrator Robert Fennessy will also be in attendance.

“The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps looks forward to kicking off its holiday season of giving at this year’s Carver Kettle Kickoff. Each year, our iconic campaign helps to fill the gaps families experience surrounding the holidays,” said Envoy Anne Rich, The Salvation Army Plymouth Corps. “We look forward to celebrating the holiday season and launching our campaign alongside the Carver community.”
