TOWNSEND – Superintendent Brad Morgan shares that the North Middlesex Regional School District will host a Genocide Education Conference for education professionals on Tuesday.

WHAT:
North Middlesex Regional School District welcomes educators from 15 districts across the state to help them to develop meaningful ways to include genocide topics across grade levels and in classes. Attendees will hear from eight speakers, including keynote speaker and Holocaust survivor Janet Applefield.
State Sen. John Cronin, who was a Senate co-sponsor of the genocide education law, will provide opening remarks.
Attendees will participate in breakout sessions that examine a variety topics including, Defining Genocide: Understanding the History of Genocide as an International Crime, Teaching the Armenian Genocide through Travel, Literature, Art and Poetry, and Anti-Semitism: Understanding and Countering this Hatred Today.
North Middlesex Regional School District has developed this conference with grant funding from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to help build educators’ capacity to provide meaningful learning experiences around these topics with their students.
