WHEN:

WHERE:

WHAT:

Each year, The Salvation Army’s Greater Lowell Christmas Castle Breakfast has kicked off the non-profit’s iconic Red Kettle fundraising campaign in Greater Lowell, bringing together businesses, community partners and others for a fun morning of networking and good cheer.

Funds collected at Christmas and throughout the year are essential to The Salvation Army’s seasonal and yearly relief efforts. The Salvation Army anticipates more families than ever will seek holiday help this year, given rising inflation and poverty rates. Giving to red kettles is a holiday tradition for many, but people are often surprised to learn that the money raised stays directly in the community and will benefit neighbors in need.

In 2022, The Salvation Army in Lowell provided toys, clothing and winter supplies to 1,394 Lowell-area children and distributed 980 food gift baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Lowell Christmas Castle began three decades ago when The Salvation Army noticed a need to create a central location where families could receive food, clothing and gifts during the holidays. The tradition has endured, with this year marking the 31st year the breakfast has kicked off fundraising efforts for The Salvation Army across the Greater Lowell area.

This year’s honoree will be Danielle McFadden, President of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce. McFadden, a lifelong Lowell resident, has proudly served as President and CEO of the Greater Lowell Chamber of Commerce since 2011.

An active member of the Greater Lowell community and within the Chamber industry, Danielle serves on more than a half-dozen boards including the Merrimack Valley Food Bank, MassHire Greater Lowell Workforce Board, Massachusetts Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, and the New England Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives.

She also serves as President of the Pawtucketville Memorial Elementary School Parent Teacher Organization where her three children, Zoe, Landry, and Milo, attend school.

“Our Greater Lowell Christmas Castle Breakfast is a time to come together to laugh and have a good time, all while getting ready for a holiday season of helping others,” said Major Timothy Ross. “Danielle McFadden is passionate about community and making the world a better place, and we are proud to honor her and her work in Greater Lowell at this year’s breakfast.”

During this year’s breakfast, Danielle will be “roasted” by her cousin, Michael Dubuque, brother, Brian Bergeron, and Chris Dick from PrideStar Trinity EMS. The event will be emceed by Teddy Panos.

Families in need count on donor support to have a joyous holiday season. Opportunities for individuals and businesses to show their support of The Salvation Army this holiday season are still available.
