LENOX — Lenox Memorial Middle High School Principal Jeremiah Ames is proud to share that six LMMHS seniors — Hannah Alsdorf, Sean Cestone, Alice Culver, Niki Ilia, Finn Jolly, and Cormac Mathews — have been commended by the National Merit Scholarship Program for academic excellence.

Commended Scholars are recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by scoring among the 50,000 highest scorers nationwide on the 2022 Preliminary/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play on their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”

Alsdorf, Cestone, Culver, Ilia, Jolly, and Mathews will each receive letters of commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, which conducts the program, and from the District.

“Congratulations to each of these students on this incredible achievement,” said Principal Ames. “To be named a Commended Scholar, a national honor, is a testament to the drive and passion each of these students possess. All of us at LMMHS cannot wait to see what they will accomplish following their time at Lenox.”
