MARION — Town Administrator Geoffrey Gorman and Council on Aging Director Karen Gregory would like to encourage residents to participate in the upcoming Community Town Hall – Supporting Dementia as part of Marion’s Dementia Friendly initiative.

WHEN:

Monday, Nov. 13 at 5 p.m.

WHERE:

Benjamin D. Cushing Community Center, 465 Mill St.

WHAT:

As part of an ongoing community initiative, the Marion Council on Aging is looking to educate, as well as offer training and respite for caregivers as it pertains to dementia.

It is projected that by 2025, an estimated 150,000 Massachusetts residents will be living with Alzheimer’s disease, which does not account for those with other types of dementia.

The Marion Council on Aging is seeking input from members of the community to identify shortcomings and gaps in available services. Community members are encouraged to share their stories and needs with the Council on Aging during the event.

An RSVP is encouraged as a light meal will be served during the event. Call 508-748-3570 to RSVP. Transportation can also be arranged if needed.

For those unable to attend in person, comments, suggestions or questions regarding available dementia services can be directed to Director Gregory at kgregory@marionma.gov or 508-748-3570.
