Town of Marion Awarded Two Community Compact Grants Totaling $50,000

MARION — Town Administrator Geoffrey Gorman is pleased to announce that the Town of Marion received two Community Compact Grants totaling $50,000.

The Town of Marion received the funding as part of a Community Compact Grant, which is a state grant program administered by the State Division of Local Services.

The first Community Compact Grant, in the amount of $35,000, will be used to fund the creation of a modernized Town website with improved capabilities and functionalities, including ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliance.

The second Community Compact Gant, in the amount of $15,000, will be used to fund the development of Employee Policies and Procedures. The Town will review and update current policies and procedures and procure an outside firm to assist in the process.

“We look forward to creating a new Town website that will be easily accessible as well as conducting a complete review and update of our Employee Policies and Procedures. These projects are both part of our service enhancement initiatives for Town residents and visitors.” said Town Administrator Gorman. “These projects are also an integral part of meeting the Town’s 2024 Strategic Goals, and we are grateful to the Commonwealth for awarding us these grants to move forward with this work.”

The Community Compact Grant was created in the early days of the Baker-Polito Administration and has now been continued by Gov. Maura Healey. It is open to all 351 municipalities and provides direct assistance in achieving “best practices” via grants for consulting services.
