Town of East Bridgewater to Host Public Forum on Received Proposals for Use of American Rescue Plan Act Funds

Town Administrator Charles Seelig and the Town of East Bridgewater invite community members to attend an upcoming community forum to provide feedback on proposals received by the Town for expenditure of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

EAST BRIDGEWATER — Town Administrator Charles Seelig and the Town of East Bridgewater invite community members to attend an upcoming community forum to provide feedback on proposals received by the Town for expenditure of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.

WHEN:

Monday, Oct. 30 at 5 p.m.

WHERE:

Town Hall 1st floor conference room, 175 Central St.

WHAT:

The Select Board will host an ARPA Community Forum during which residents will be invited to provide comments on proposals for the use of ARPA funds. The Select Board may take votes during the forum.

The Town is receiving approximately $4.1 million in funding, either through funds sent directly to the Town or through Plymouth County’s ARPA program.

After being notified of the amount of ARPA funding that the Town would receive, the Select Board created an ARPA Review Committee. Members of the Committee could not be associated with a department, entity or organization that would submit requests for funding.

Applications were submitted in September 2022. The ARPA Review Committee has met multiple times to talk with the applicants, review applications and make recommendations to the Select Board.

The Select Board has approved certain applications due to timing concerns. It had also approved three projects — one for engineering work in connection with the proposed sanitary sewer on North Bedford Street, one for a new ambulance, and one for body-worn cameras for the police department — before the application process began.

A complete list of applications and their current statuses can be found here.

During the public forum, time will be provided so that attendees can speak about each application individually. While the Select Board has stated that the applications submitted by the 2022 deadline have priority for funding, attendees can suggest other uses of the ARPA funds in case there may be leftover funding after the Select Board makes decisions on current applications.

Individuals who cannot attend the public forum but wish to provide feedback are able to send comments on the proposals to Town Administrator Seelig at cseelig@eastbridgewaterma.gov. Comments must be received by Monday, Oct. 30 at 4 p.m. All comments received by this time will be provided to the Select Board.

Any questions regarding the forum can be directed to the Select Board Office at 508-378-1601.
