- Receiving Stolen Property
On Thursday, Oct. 5, at approximately 9:35 p.m., Newport Police was contacted by the owner of an e-bike — a bike that can be operated on either pedal or electronic power — that was stolen from the area of Waterfront Plaza.
The bike owner provided a description and photograph of his stolen bike, and officers spotted CLONEY pushing the same bike on Glen Road at 10:39 p.m.
Following an on-scene investigation, CLONEY, who has previous convictions for burglary, grand larceny, and petit theft, and who is currently free on bail in connection with drug charges, was taken into custody.
The State’s Attorney’s Office requested $5,000 bail for CLONEY, but a judge ordered CLONEY released without bail, on the condition that he not contact the victim in the case.
CLONEY is scheduled to appear in Orleans District Court on Oct. 10.
These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
