EAST BRIDGEWATER — Town Administrator Charles Seelig and Department of Public Works Director John Haines encourage residents to attend the upcoming Route 18 Corridor Study Public Meeting, held in partnership with the Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) and the Town of Bridgewater.
WHEN:
Thursday, Oct. 5 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
WHERE:
Virtual via Zoom. Click here to access the meeting information.
WHO:
- Principal Planners Ray Guarino and Guoqiang Li, OCPC
- Town Administrator Charles Seelig, Town of East Bridgewater
- Director of Community & Economic Development Robert Rulli, Town of Bridgewater
WHAT:
The Route 18 Corridor study, which included a survey that was completed by more than 250 East Bridgewater residents, has helped identify numerous issues residents and travelers to East Bridgewater and Bridgewater have with Route 18. Identified areas of concern include safety, an increasing amount of traffic, travel lanes, dangerous intersections, pedestrian infrastructure and traffic enforcement.
Staff from OCPC and the towns will be on-hand to discuss the results of the survey and the study’s findings. Time will also be set aside for attendees to ask questions.
The purpose of the study is to address traffic congestion and improve safety, circulation and mobility for all road users (bicyclists and walkers), as well as vehicles, and to coordinate any recommendations with planned road projects and development. About the OCPC:
OCPC was established partly to address local challenges that cross city and town boundaries, like air and water pollution, transportation deficiencies and economic distress. Overcoming challenges like these requires cooperative action and OCPC exists to help facilitate that cooperation and coordination.
The OCPC region is a U.S. Economic Development Administration-designated Economic Development District. As such, OCPC leads a locally-based, regionally-driven economic development planning process. They actively engage and collaborate with the public, private and non-profit sectors to establish and implement an economic development roadmap for the region.
