CARVER — Town Administrator Robert Fennessy is pleased to announce that the Town of Carver was awarded over $126,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds from the Plymouth County Commissioners. This represents the first four grants of fourteen town projects that have been proposed to the County.
During a Select Board meeting on Thursday, Sept. 21, the Town of Carver was presented with a check in the amount of $126,098.24 from Plymouth County Treasurer Tom O’Brien and Plymouth County Commissioner Jared L. Valanzola.
The ARPA funds will be distributed to the Council on Aging, Emergency Management Department and Fire Department for equipment upgrades and new purchases.
“The Council on Aging will receive $ 5,799.70 to replace old freezers for food storage in the nutrition center. The Emergency Management Department will receive $91,107.70 to purchase cardiac monitors that will be placed in the vehicles. The Fire Department will receive $6,395.50 for HVAC monitors for Fire Station #2 and $22,795.34 for town-wide fire dispatch and information technology upgrades. These improvements will enhance the safety of our citizens,” said Town Administrator Fennessy.
“On behalf of the Select Board, I would like to thank the Plymouth County Commissioners for allocating and administrating the American Rescue Plan Act funds to support these, and other vital upgrades and purchases for several of our town departments,” Board Chair Mark Townsend added.
The Select Board is considering an additional fifteen projects for submission to the County.
