WOBURN – Superintendent Matthew Crowley and Principal Kristen Maloney are pleased to announce that Hurld Wyman Elementary School has taken the Connor’s Kindness Pledge with the aim to spread positivity, one act of kindness at a time.
Students at Hurld Wyman Elementary School took the Connor’s Kindness Pledge to become part of the Kids Kindness Club, which aims to promote kindness and inclusion, on Tuesday, Sept. 19. The Kindness Club is an initiative of Connor’s Kindness Project (CKP), a local non-profit dedicated to spreading positivity and helping kids in need.
Sharon Marrama, founder of Connor’s Kindness Project, visited the school during an assembly to help kick off the program. During the assembly, all 422 students and more than 45 staff members sang and danced along to the Kindness Song to boost the spirit of kindness within the school.
Students have been challenged to completed 20 acts of kindness by December as part of their pledge. Upon completion of the challenges, Hurld Wyman Elementary will received a certificate of membership and will join 10 other schools who are a part of the Kindness Club.
In 2023 alone, the Kids Kindness Club has 4,000 participating students who have completed 80,000 acts of kindness.
“The Connor’s Kindness Project does wonderful work helping children in need and spreading kindness and positivity throughout the community,” said Superintendent Crowley. “It is evident that the students at Hurld Wyman Elementary believe in the organization’s mission, and by being a part of the Kindness Club, they can have even more motivation to spread kindness to their peers and members of the Woburn community each day.”
About Connor’s Kindness Project
The Connor’s Kindness Project was founded during the COVID-19 Pandemic by Connor Wright of Lynnfield, when he was only 12 years old. Wright and his nana, Sharon Marrama, started creating COVID Care Packages filled with activities and comfort items and delivered them to children in their community that were sick or in isolation. The organization has since evolved into a non-profit that works to spread kindness and help kids in need.
