PEABODY — Superintendent Josh Vadala is pleased to share that Peabody Public Schools recently received a generous donation from Quick Manufacturing to establish the district’s National STEM Honor Society (NSTEM) chapters.

The $5,000 donation was gifted by the owner of Quick Manufacturing and Peabody Public Schools graduate Yianni Manolakos. Quick Manufacturing, founded in 1993, provides high-precision manufacturing solutions including precision machining, assembly and welding.

After learning about the National STEM Honor Society, Manolakos connected with NSTEM Honor Society President Ken Hecht to pledge $5,000 to Peabody Public Schools. This donation helped to establish the Peabody Public Schools National STEM Honor Society and covered the cost of registration for all four chapters.

The donation was announced during a school committee meeting on July 13.

The donated funds will be split between South Memorial Elementary School, William A. Welch Elementary School, Higgins Middle School and Peabody Veterans Memorial High School.

Each school has a designated chapter advisor and director. The NSTEM Chapter Advisor, with help from parents and their chapter advisory council, is responsible for the day-to-day organization of the chapter. NSTEM provides tools, documents, and forms that can assist a chapter advisor in creating and managing an active and engaging chapter.

Peabody Public Schools National STEM Honor Society chapter advisors and directors will evaluate how the funds can be best used to improve all four chapters.

“On behalf of the entire district, I would like to thank Yianni Manolakos for his generous donation to the district’s National STEM Honor Society,” said Superintendent Vadala. “This funding provides our students and their chapter leaders with new learning opportunities and experiences that can be applied in the workforce.”
