BOURNE — Superintendent Kerri Anne Quinlan-Zhou and Bourne Public Schools are pleased to announce that the district is participating in this year’s Blue Star Welcome Week (BSWW).

At the Bourne School Committee meeting on Sept. 20, School Committee Chair Emily Berry announced the proclamation, designating Sept. 23 through Oct. 1 as Blue Star Welcome Week within the district to recognize military and veteran families in Bourne.

Blue Star Welcome Week is a nationwide campaign hosted by Blue Star Families. BSWW is a non-profit organization that provides active duty and transitioning military families, who relocate to new communities, opportunities to connect with their neighbors and local organizations. Blue Star Families annually designates the week beginning the second to last Saturday in September and concluding eight days thereafter as “Blue Star Welcome Week.”

“We are very grateful to join in this nationwide campaign to further enhance BPS’s proud and longstanding relationship with our partner Joint Base Cape Cod, our military connected families, our veterans and our community as a whole,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou. “Taking part in Blue Star Welcome Week directly relates to one of the pillars of our district strategy, building community, which states that as a district we strive to engage both students and families in their learning.”
