ATTLEBORO — Mayor Cathleen DeSimone and Fire Chief Scott T. Lachance would like to encourage residents to complete an online form to determine eligibility to receive federal disaster assistance following last week’s severe weather.
The Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is initiating an effort to determine whether the Commonwealth and any of its counties may be eligible to receive federal disaster assistance under a Presidential declaration as a result of severe storms and flooding on Sept. 11-13.
MEMA is seeking information to determine eligibility for individual assistance (IA) and business recovery programs. In order to determine eligibility, residents and business owners are encouraged to fill out an on-line IDA survey.
The deadline to complete the form is Friday, Sept. 29. To apply, click here.
The determination of eligibility is a multi-step process. The first step of this process is Initial Damage Assessments (IDAs).
Survey data will be used to determine if the City of Attleboro is eligible for federal programs from FEMA and the U.S. Small Business Administration and whether there is a basis for engaging in the second step of the eligibility process — formal FEMA/State Preliminary Damage Assessments (PDAs).
Additional information about Public Assistance IDAs will be available at the beginning of next week.
For assistance completing the form, to submit by phone, or to access the form in multiple languages, residents and businesses should call Mass 2-1-1 (extension 20).
