DayBreak Shelter to Add Street Outreach Team to Existing Services

LAWRENCE — Chief Executive Officer Carina Pappalardo is pleased to share that Daybreak Shelter will add a street outreach team to its services thanks to a generous state grant.

The Psychological Center, Inc., received $220,000 in new state funding to fund the creation of a street outreach team at Daybreak Shelter that will seek out individuals currently living outside.

The outreach team will offer individuals living outside stabilization referral services that will include, at minimum, emergency shelter, case management services, housing search assistance, public benefits, social services, health services (including behavioral health), employment services, permanent housing, and day shelter programs.

Being at full capacity, the street outreach team will enable Daybreak Shelter to offer case management services to those outside of the shelter while waiting for a bed to become available.

“We are blessed by this generous funding, which creates an opportunity for us to provide our services to a larger homeless population,” said CEO Pappalardo. “Far from merely providing basic shelter services, Daybreak Shelter has been extremely effective at connecting homeless individuals to housing, jobs and more, and we are excited to reach even more individuals right here in Lawrence, Methuen, and the surrounding area. It will help lessen the burden of the cities to reach these individuals. Our team has been able to make great strides in assisting homeless individuals in many areas of need including housing.”
