Southbridge Public Schools Awarded $788,750 in Funding for After-School and Summer Programming

SOUTHBRIDGE — Receiver/Superintendent Dr. Jeffrey Villar is pleased to share that Southbridge Public Schools have been awarded grant funding from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to support afterschool and summertime programming.

The Massachusetts 21st Century Community Learning Centers-Supporting Additional Learning Time (SALT) Grant was awarded to Southbridge Public Schools on Friday, Sept. 1. The $788,750 in grant funding will be used to provide project-based learning for students in STEM.

The Massachusetts 21st Century Community Learning Centers-Supporting Additional Learning Time Grant supports the implementation of academically enriching programming and project-based learning during Out-of-School Time and/or Expanded Learning Time (ELT).

This grant award represents the Southbridge Public School’s continuing commitment to strengthening student learning by implementing innovative, interactive, relevant, and engaging teaching and learning strategies during the school year and summer that meet the specific academic, social-emotional learning, and developmental needs of students.
