WHEN:

WHERE:

Uxbridge High School, 300 Quaker Highway

WHAT:

On Friday, Sept. 15 the Uxbridge High School Varsity Football Team will face Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School for the school’s first nighttime home football game since 2012.

Upon the completion of the “Light Up the U Project” earlier this year, the Uxbridge High School turf field is now equipped with lights to be used during varsity sport night games, recreation and club league games, and by adult and youth sports groups, and the Uxbridge community.

The need for the “Light Up the U Project” was first introduced upon the completion of the new Uxbridge High School building project in 2012.

The project was authorized at the 2022 Spring Town Meeting.

The project was a three-way partnership, funded by the Town of Uxbridge in the amount of $200,000, the Uxbridge Spartans Athletic Booster Club in the amount of $90,000, and the Uxbridge School Committee/ Uxbridge Public Schools in the amount of $200,000. Project construction began in the fall of 2022.

“On Friday night, our community will see evidence of a great partnership,” said Superintendent Baldassarre. “The Booster Club is and has been tireless in their work, and the Uxbridge Capital Committee’s support continues to be felt by our staff, families, and students. In addition to the lights, we have so many other projects that have been funded.”

A pregame dedication ceremony will take place at 6:45 p.m., recognizing the Uxbridge Spartans Athletic Booster Club for its contribution to the project.

“We are thrilled to welcome our players and students, community members and Blackstone Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School to our first home night game in over 10 years,” said Principal Rubin. “This game is the result of tremendous ongoing efforts and generosity by the town, the school community and the Uxbridge Spartans Athletic Booster Club.”
