PEPPERELL – Superintendent Brad Morgan and the North Middlesex Regional School District invite parents, guardians, students, and community members to an internet safety presentation next month.

Speaker Katie Greer is the former Director of Internet Safety with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office. She later worked with the Massachusetts State Police as an Intelligence Analyst. She has since created her own approach to internet safety that realistically considers the appeal of technology for people of all ages.

Greer will be presenting student-focused programs at North Middlesex Regional High School, Hawthorne Brook Middle School, and Nissitissit Middle School on Monday, Sept. 11. She then will present during a community forum from 6:30-7:30 p.m. in the North Middlesex Regional High School Auditorium. The forum is open to ages 18 and older.

Programs will focus on topics including social networking, texting and smartphone usage, interactive gaming, cyberbullying and sexting. Greer will offer advice for having conversations with kids to foster a positive and safe online experience.

Greer focuses on providing a framework for making good decisions, and for understanding that a poor decision may affect a child for the rest of their life.

“We’re pleased to welcome Katie Greer to North Middlesex. Her customized and proactive approach gives students and parents the tools to become more aware of social media threats,” Superintendent Morgan said. “We encourage anyone interested to attend.”
