
NORWOOD — Superintendent David Thomson is pleased to announce that Kristen Noonan has been selected to serve as Principal of Little Mustangs Preschool Academy.
Noonan began in the position on Aug. 21.
Noonan was selected following a comprehensive search and interview process with a variety of stakeholders, including Norwood teachers, community members, and administrators.
“On behalf of the entire district, I would like to welcome Kristen Noonan to the Norwood Public Schools,” said Superintendent Thomson. “She brings extensive training and experience in social-emotional learning, trauma and social work that will be incredibly valuable to our district.”
Noonan comes to Norwood from Brockton Public Schools where she has served as a School Adjustment Counselor since 2011.
While serving in this capacity, Noonan was responsible for organizing and guiding social-emotional learning for students with and without disabilities, initiating protective interventions for students at risk, and managing critical incidents in the school setting.
While serving as School Adjustment Counselor, Noonan spearheaded the Pre-K Curriculum and Assessment Committee for Brockton Public Schools to develop a standards-based report card and assessment for all Pre-K students in the district.
Prior to this position, Noonan served as Acting Principal of the Barrett Russell Early Childhood Center where she oversaw over 200 students, 66% of whom were enrolled in special education programs.
While serving as Acting Principal, Noonan assisted in the writing and implementation of the school improvement plan, as well as the development of a trauma team, which included the implementation of trauma-sensitive professional development for staff. Noonan also assisted in the strategic development and implementation of the school’s Instructional Support Team (IST) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS), as well as the Climate and Culture Committee.
Noonan is a licensed certified social worker, a licensed school social worker/ school adjustment counselor, a licensed principal/ assistant principal and a licensed special education administrator.
She holds a Master of Social Work (MSW) and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Springfield College.
