CANTON — Town Administrator Charles Doody is pleased to share that the Town of Canton has received a Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2022 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
The award is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant achievement by the Town of Canton. This is the 17th consecutive year that the Town has earned this distinction.
The award recognizes municipalities that meet or exceed national standards for financial reporting. These standards include demonstrating a spirit of full disclosure and motivating potential users to read the ACFR.
“Thank you and congratulations to our entire finance department and audit firm, whose hard work and dedication led us to receive this award again for the 17th year,” said Town Administrator Doody. “We are grateful to be recognized by the GFOA for this national honor.”
The GFOA established the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting program in 1945 to encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare comprehensive financial reports that are transparent and offer full disclosure while recognizing individual governments that achieve this goal.
