WHAT:
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to celebrate the completion of the new school, with a secondary “children’s ribbon-cutting” to immediately follow.
Following the ceremony, an open house will be held with activities for all ages. A touch-a-truck style display will be available with vehicles from the Easton Police and Fire Departments, Department of Public Works, and Lucini Transportation.
The school’s playgrounds will be open for use, and additional children’s activities, such as face painting by Wings of Hope and a balloon artist, will also be present. Yard games including Giant Jenga, Connect 4, Cornhole and Tower Ball, coordinated by the Easton Community Recreation Department, will be set up for families.
Food and refreshments will be available for purchase from Mom On The Go, Supa Dupa, Galaxy Ice Cream, and Alltown.
Guided tours of the new school will be given. Tours will be spaced out and anyone interested in a tour can line up at the school’s front entrance anytime during the open house between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
All Easton residents are welcome and do not need to have children in the public school system to attend. Guests may park in the lots at Easton Middle School, Richardson Olmsted or Oliver Ames, as well as at Blanche Ames near the sensory garden. The Lothrop/Columbus access road and the Blanche Ames parent and bus loops will be closed to traffic.
The event will be held rain or shine. If rain is forecast for Sunday, the ceremony and ribbon-cutting will be held in the gymnasium and tours of the school will still take place.
