Norfolk Police Charge Man Who Crashed Into Police Cruiser While Allegedly Under the Influence

Chief Timothy Heinz reports that the Norfolk Police Department has charged a man who allegedly crashed into a police cruiser while under the influence of alcohol early this morning.

NORFOLK — Chief Timothy Heinz reports that the Norfolk Police Department has charged a man who allegedly crashed into a police cruiser while under the influence of alcohol early this morning.

JAMONT DUBOSE, AGE 43, OF FRAMINGHAM, was charged with:

  • Marked Lanes Violation
  • OUI Liquor
  • Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Speed Exceeding the Posted Speed Limit
  • Possession of an Open Alcohol Container in a Motor Vehicle

At approximately 1:35 a.m. Friday, Norfolk Police officers responded to the intersection of North Street and Needham Street after a Norfolk Police sergeant reported that a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed had crashed into his marked cruiser. The cruiser, which was traveling south on North Street, was hit on the rear driver’s side. The impact tore the left rear wheel and suspension from the cruiser, and caused it to end up partially off the roadway and into the woods.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as DUBOSE, was treated at the scene by the Norfolk Fire Department, then transported via ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

The Norfolk Police sergeant was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Based on observations and the subsequent investigation, officers determined that there was probable cause to charge DUBOSE with operating under the influence of liquor. Officers subsequently searched DUBOSE’s vehicle and located a small empty bottle of liquor.

DUBOSE was released from the hospital later Friday morning and transported to the Norfolk Police station to be booked. He was arraigned today in Wrentham District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
