LUDLOW — Town Administrator Marc Strange, Police Chief Daniel Valadas, and Fire Chief Ryan Pease are pleased to announce that the Town of Ludlow received an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) as a donation from the KEVS Foundation.
The AED is located at the Whitney Park Field House, 167 Howard St., and was given to the Town of Ludlow on July 18.
The AED can be accessed by members of the public who are in need of immediate assistance during a cardiac emergency. To access and use the device, members of the public will call Ludlow Central Dispatch who will provide the caller with a code to access the AED.
The KEVS Foundation also donated the lock box that will house the AED device.
The KEVS Foundation is a local non-profit organization led by Director and Founder Susan Canning, whose mission is to educate and help prevent Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) in children and young adults.
“We are extremely grateful to the KEVS Foundation for their generous donation to the Town of Ludlow,” said Town Administrator Strange. “This device will be available for the public to access and will help provide immediate medical attention to those who are suffering from an emergency.”
“An AED helps save lives and I am thankful we are able to have this in our community,” said Fire Chief Pease. “As always, in the event of an emergency we encourage residents to call 911. However, this device will be extremely useful as residents and community members can now begin life-saving efforts while first responders are on their way to the scene.”
