MEDFIELD — Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden and Blake Middle School Principal Nathaniel Vaughn are pleased to share that eighth grade students learned about various career fields and heard from professionals in those fields during the school’s annual springtime Career Day.

The students heard from 14 professionals who joined the spring event virtually to discuss their jobs and outline their career paths. The professionals represented an array of careers identified by the students as potential jobs of interest.

Among the professionals were a teacher/librarian, physician assistant, heating and air conditioning contractor, police detective, computer engineer, firefighter, physical therapist, veterinarian and small-business owner.

Students also heard from Doug Pietrzak, founder of FreshCognate LLC, an instructional design company, who was the keynote speaker.

“We’re so appreciative of the professionals who gave their time and took part in Career Day,” Principal Vaughn said. “This event is great for our eighth-graders and gives them an idea of what opportunities exist as they enter high school and begin looking at potential educational and career paths.”

The Blake Middle School’s Career Day has taken place for more than 20 years.
