TYNGSBOROUGH — Superintendent Jill Davis is pleased to announce that Greater Lowell Technical High School held a job fair for students in the Practical Nursing Program.

TYNGSBOROUGH — Superintendent Jill Davis is pleased to announce that Greater Lowell Technical High School held a job fair for students in the Practical Nursing Program.

On Thursday, June 8, 36 vendors gathered at Greater Lowell Technical High School to meet the 66 students scheduled to graduate from the Practical Nursing Program later this month.

Vendors representing local hospitals, home care agencies, rehabilitation facilities, and hospice facilities, as well as the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services met students and discussed employment opportunities.

Retired and active practical nursing instructors helped facilitate student and employer interactions, with students benefiting from casual, on-the-spot interviewing opportunities to enhance their skills.

Greater Lowell Technical High School’s Practical Nursing Program offers day and night classes as part of a 40-week, full-time Post-Secondary course with 1,097 hours of classroom and 540 hours of clinical instruction.

After completing the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Council of Licensing Examination for Practical Nursing.

“This job fair was a great opportunity for our students to begin exploring the wide variety of employment opportunities they will have upon graduation,” said Director of Practical Nursing Programs Christine Messina. “Nursing is a challenging field, but one that is in high demand, and we expect many of our graduates to be able to find employment quickly.”
