MEDFIELD — Superintendent Jeffrey Marsden is pleased to share that Medfield Public School community members participated in the 2023 Blake Marathon earlier this month.
The ninth annual event was held on Friday, May 12 at the Thomas A. Blake Middle School.
Each year, the Blake Marathon brings students, staff, and families together to support one another while raising money for a good cause. This year’s registration fee was a suggested $5 donation to Medfield Outreach, a municipal department serving the social, emotional, and financial needs of Medfield residents.
Student runners/walkers were grouped into six heats by grade level, and tasked with completing the 2.1-mile marathon which snaked around the Middle and High School campuses and the surrounding community.
This year marked the return of the race since the COVID-19 Pandemic, with over 450 staff, student runners and walkers participating.
As participants crossed the finish line, they were cheered on by their fellow peers and provided with water and an area to recover. Top finishers were recognized, with special recognition for overall race winners.
Together, the community raised over $2,300 for Medfield Outreach.
“Each year this event brings our school community closer together and it is incredibly rewarding to be raising money for such a great organization,” said Superintendent Marsden. “I want to thank each student and staff member who participated in making this event a great success.”
