WOBURN – Principal Wayne Clark is pleased to share that Shamrock Elementary School held a literacy luau for students and their families to get excited about reading.
More than 200 people attended the literacy luau on Wednesday, April 12. Students in Kindergarten through Grade 5 and their family members enjoyed pizza and dessert, played Bingo for Books, and engaged in reading activities in the school’s library to work on literacy skills and foster a love for reading.
The event was hosted by the school’s Title I Department, which works to help students meet the state content and performance standards in reading, language arts, and mathematics.
“The literacy luau was an outstanding success. Seeing the students get excited about reading was wonderful, especially since families were also able to get involved,” said Principal Clark. “A special thank you to Title I Teacher Candace Chillemi and the amazing Shamrock staff, who volunteered their time to serve food, run bingo, plan, and teach all the activities for the evening. The event ShamRocked!”
