ERROL – Superintendent David Backler and Principal Mary Fluette would like to share that Errol Consolidated School recently recognized Food Service Director Nancy Bourassa during this year’s National School Lunch Hero Day.
National School Lunch Hero Day is observed annually to celebrate and recognize the school lunch staff who prepare healthy, allergy-friendly, delicious meals for students across the country. This year’s National School Lunch Hero Day was observed on May 5.
Errol Consolidated celebrated the hard work of Food Service Director Bourassa with a certificate of recognition and a lunch staff survival kit. The survival kit included items such as gum, peppermints, a notepad, pens, and chocolate.
Bourassa has been working at Errol Consolidated for 23 years and has become an integral part of the school day for both faculty and students. She is described as dedicated and passionate. She started a senior meals program for community members in 2010.
Bourassa has also participated in the USDA Food and Nutrition Service program, called Try It Day, which is centered on getting students excited about trying new foods.
During Try It Days, students are given a new food based on New Hampshire Harvest of the Month Food Group. The program is offered once a month. Any child may participate.
After trying the new food, participating students are given a sticker for their brave efforts. Bourassa explained that some of her most memorable days are when a student tries something for the first time and finds out they like it.
“Nancy truly loves her job, and it shows,” said Principal Fluette. “I want to thank Nancy for her commitment to our students by ensuring they have a fulfilling and delicious meal during their day. Her kindness does not go unnoticed, and students really enjoy her presence, not just during lunch but as part of our school community. We are incredibly fortunate to have Nancy and our lunch staff go above and beyond to put our students first.”
