BROOKLINE – Town Administrator Chas Carey is pleased to share that the Town of Brookline acknowledged employees last week as part of National Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW).
To mark PSRW, the Town of Brookline invited staff members to nominate their colleagues and peers for recognition. The following town employees were nominated for recognition for outstanding contributions to Brookline’s efforts to serve its residents and visitors:
- Olga Sliwa, of the Council on Aging, for her compassion, mentorship, and dedication to her work. She is admired by colleagues for her mindfulness, team-oriented nature, and ability to make others feel safe and at ease.
- Dave Marquardo, of the Information Technology Department, for his strong technical skills and outstanding customer service. His smile brings levity to even the most stressful technical difficulties, making him one of the most in-demand employees at Town Hall.
- Linda O’Brien, of the Public Safety Business Office, for more than 31 years of service to the town of Brookline.
- Jake Aldrich, of the Recreation Department, for his dedication to the youth of Brookline through the expansion of youth sports programs and doing everything in his power to ensure each child’s needs are accommodated.
- Joseph Coyle, of the Information Technology Department, for his outstanding customer service, thoughtfulness, and positive attitude.
- Gerry Kelly, of the Recreation Department, for his positive attitude and compassion toward staff. His colleagues have said that the Recreation Department would not run correctly without his guidance.
- Sgt. Kerry Keaveney, of the Brookline Police Department, for her professionalism, compassion, and empathy toward all. She never hesitates to take on extra effort to help out, even if it requires self-sacrifice, and always displays a strong work ethic, commitment to the Town, and perseverance.
- Liz Scott, of the Brookline Fire Department, for her commitment to the success of the department, going above and beyond the scope of her assigned duties and assisting with myriad events that have made her presence invaluable.
- Andrew Mulvey, of the Public Safety Department, for his professionalism, knowing all aspects of his role in Fire Alarm, and making the jobs of others easier with his skill and expertise.
- Justin Lawson, of the Recreation Department, for his unmatched and tireless work over the past year to ensure the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course is at its full capacity.
- Lynne Karsten, of the Public Health Department, for her service as the Director of Community Health.
- Dai Nguyen, of the Public Health Department, has been nominated for the second consecutive year for serving as the backbone of the Environmental Health Division for many years. His nearly two decades of service to the community, dedication and leadership in the department, patience, and mild temperament are admired by his colleagues.
- Llyod Lovering, of the Recreation Department, has been nominated for the second consecutive year for his tireless contributions to the facilities department. He worked through the entirety of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping out anywhere that was needed.
- Zeray Assefa, of the Information Technology Department, has been nominated for the second consecutive year for more than 20 years of service to the town and Public Schools of Brookline.
- Ren Avellani, of the Information Technology Department, has been nominated for the second consecutive year for his sense of caring for others and his tireless work to provide invaluable technical support townwide.
- Kate MacGillivray, of the Select Board’s Office, has been nominated for the second consecutive year for serving as the backbone of the Select Board’s day-to-day work. She is a longtime employee and resident who fields numerous calls from people in the community and is responsible for maintaining numerous town records and the minutes of the board.
“Public Service Recognition Week is a time to thank and honor the people who dedicate their lives and passions toward making the community a better place for all,” Town Administrator Carey said. “We want to take this time to highlight the work of our town employees for their remarkable efforts and show our gratitude.”
Nominated staff members were recognized throughout the week on social media for their various contributions to the town and its residents.
