Whitman Police Investigating Report of Shots Fired

WHITMAN — Chief Timothy Hanlon reports that the Whitman Police Department is investigating an incident where shots were fired Thursday night. 

On Thursday, May 11, at 7:50 p.m., Whitman Police were dispatched to the area of Coholan Drive for the report of multiple gunshots fired in the area. 

Police learned through an initial investigation that a white SUV drove into the area of Coholan Drive and three black males, wearing masks, exited the SUV and fired multiple shots before fleeing the area. Whitman Police are not aware of anyone who was injured as a result of the shots fired.

Whitman Police Officers canvased the neighborhood and spoke with several witnesses to gather information. The Plymouth County Bureau of Criminal Investigation, as well as Quincy Police Officer Paul Jackson and his ballistic K-9, responded to the scene to support the investigation.  

Officers subsequently located multiple shell casings on the ground and four bullet holes located in the fence on the west side of a residence on Coholan Drive. An additional bullet hole was located in the corner post of the fence.

The incident remains under active investigation at this time and no further information is currently available.
