- Friday, May 12, at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, May 13, at 7 p.m.
WHERE:
Bourne High School Auditorium, 75 Waterhouse Road
WHAT:
More than 40 Bourne High School drama students have been rehearsing and preparing for their production of Disney’s Broadway Musical “Newsies.” There will be three performances, Thursday through Saturday.
“Newsies” is based on the real-life events of the 1899 Newsboy Strike in New York City. Young newspaper hawkers went on strike to force company owners to improve their compensation. The core theme of the production is standing up for what is right, even in the face of adversity.
“It’s been wonderful to witness the hard work and dedication of our talented BHS Drama Club members,” said Burke. “We hope this production reminds you that you are capable of making a difference, no matter how big or small. Just like the Newsies, we all have the power to come together and create positive change in our communities.”
Tickets can be purchased online, here. Tickets cost $8 for students, $12 for seniors, and $15 for community members.
“Anyone who has attended a Bourne High School Drama production knows that there is a long tradition of outstanding musicianship, dancing and acting,” said Superintendent Quinlan-Zhou. “This family-friendly production is sure to delight audiences of all ages and we are excited to welcome the community to witness the hard work and talent of our students.”
