Hampton Family Makes Donation In Honor of Late Mother & Cafeteria Worker

Superintendent Lois Costa and Foodservice Director Mary Borg are pleased to announce that the Hampton School District has received a generous donation in honor of the beloved mother of a community member.

HAMPTON — Superintendent Lois Costa and Foodservice Director Mary Borg are pleased to announce that the Hampton School District has received a generous donation in honor of the beloved mother of a community member.

The $3,000 donation, courtesy of School Moderator Jim Workman, was given to the district in memory of Workman’s mother, Jo-An,who worked in the Oyster River Middle School Cafeteria for more than 35 years.

Jo-An Workman, who lived in nearby Rollinsford, recently passed from ovarian cancer. After selling her car, her family decided to use the proceeds in a way that could have the most impact, donating it to the school community in Hampton, where Jim Workman resides.

The funds will be used to pay off outstanding student lunch accounts.

“We are extremely grateful for the generosity of the Workman family, which will have a direct positive impact on students while honoring Jo-An’s legacy,” said Borg.
