ACTON – Interim Chief James Cogan announces that an Acton Police Officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following his arrest.

ACTON – Interim Chief James Cogan announces that an Acton Police Officer has been placed on paid administrative leave following his arrest.

Officer Steven Stalzer was arrested in Stow on Saturday. Upon learning of the arrest, the Department placed Officer Stalzer on leave pending the outcome of the case. The officer’s license to carry was suspended, and his badge and service weapon were taken.

These actions are consistent with the policies and procedures of the Acton Police Department, as well as its collective bargaining agreement.

Stow Police also removed Stalzer’s personal firearms from his home for safekeeping, which is consistent with police procedure when a person’s license to carry has been suspended.

Officer Stalzer has been a member of the Department since 2015.

Officer Stalzer was arraigned on Monday in Concord District Court.

The Acton Police Department will release no further information at this time, as this is an ongoing personnel matter.

Further inquiries should be directed to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
