GROVELAND – Town Clerk Beth Cunniff and the Town of Groveland encourage all registered voters to vote in the Annual Town Election on Monday, May 1.
Polls are open at Town Hall, 183 Main St., from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This year’s ballot includes a contested race for town representative on the Pentucket Regional School Committee. Residents also may write-in candidates for a number of town positions for which there is no declared candidate.
Voters also will be asked to approve a Proposition 2 1/2 override to fund the Pentucket Regional School District budget next year.
The School Committee has recommended a $50.7 million budget for the 2023-2024 school year, to serve students from the sending communities of Groveland, Merrimac, and West Newbury. Groveland’s tax levy would increase by $1.25 million, while Merrimac’s tax levy would increase by $860,000.
Town Meetings in Groveland and Merrimac approved the override on April 24. Overall approval is contingent upon the question passing in either Groveland or Merrimac on May 1.
Pentucket Regional School District has created a budget calculator to assist residents in assessing the impact of the override, based on their community and home valuation.
