CHARLTON — Superintendent-Director Kyle Brenner and Director of Career and Technical Education James Tripp Pockevicius are pleased to announce that Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School senior Georgios Pirperis was recently recognized as Bay Path’s Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators (MAVA) Outstanding Vocational Technical Student of the Year.
The Outstanding Vocational Technical Student Award, presented by the Massachusetts Association of Vocational Administrators, recognizes one technical student from each vocational/technical school statewide each year for their exemplary commitment to career and technical education, and whose achievements have significantly contributed to their local school district.
Pirperis was presented with a plaque at the MAVA Conference and Awards Banquet on Thursday, April 13 at Mechanics Hall in Worcester.
Pirperis, of Auburn, is passionate about diesel engines and equipment. His skills in automotive and diesel mechanics have resulted in his Co-op position at Advantage Truck Group in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts.
“From the day Georgios applied at Advantage Truck Group, he displayed a sense of focus and determination that are rare in any applicant,” said Human Resources Manager Scott Lappalainen. “Since being hired, both the shop foreman and Georgios’ fellow workers speak highly of his work ethic and dedication to learning his craft.”
Pirperis plans to continue working for Advantage Truck Group after graduation in order to further curate his skills and knowledge of diesel equipment.
Beyond his Co-op, Pirperis has maintained honors throughout his high school academic career and taken on challenging course curriculum that has prepared him for his college studies. Additionally, Pirperis is a member of the Bay Path Skills USA Team where he represents Bay Path’s automotive shop with a focus on diesel technology.
Outside school and workplace settings, Pirperis volunteers at his local church and participates in the Haulin’ for Hunger Campaign which helps fight hunger through food drives and meal deliveries to local food pantries.
He previously served as senior captain of the Bay Path State Vocational Champion Football Team and is a two-year member of the Bay Path Varsity Lacrosse Team.
“Georgios contributions to the classroom, automotive technology program and athletic department, together with his highly-esteemed reputation within the community, make him an admirable member of the Bay Path community. We couldn’t be prouder of him and all of his hard work that has led to this well-deserved recognition,” said Director of Career and Technical Education Pockevicius.
