Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School’s New Leo Club Receives Recognition from Lions International During Pinning Ceremony

CHARLTON — Superintendent-Director Kyle Brenner is pleased to announce that Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School students enrolled in the school’s new Leo Club received recognition from Lions International during a pinning ceremony last month.

CHARLTON — Superintendent-Director Kyle Brenner is pleased to announce that Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School students enrolled in the school’s new Leo Club received recognition from Lions International during a pinning ceremony last month. 

The Leo Club, co-advised by Bay Path English teacher Barbara Cote and Bay Path ESL teacher/coordinator Kara Donovan, is a service-oriented club and the youth program of the Lions Club. 

Over the last several months, Leo Club members have participated in various service projects, including making over one hundred Valentine’s Day Cards for the residents of Overlook in Charlton, and will be collecting and distributing eyeglasses, working with Jeremiah’s Inn in Worcester and donating to local food pantries. 

To date, the club has received $550 in donations from area Lions clubs to support its efforts. Donors include the Paxton Lions Club, the Rutland Lions Club, the Webster Lions Club, the Southbridge Lions Club and the Oxford Lions Club.

“I want to recognize each of the students and staff members who have dedicated their time to helping our community members in need,” said Superintendent-Director Brenner. “The work being done by these students is truly inspiring and I am incredibly proud.” 

On Tuesday, March 21, a Charter Night event was held at Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School to recognize Leo Club members for their efforts. 

District Governor Marianna Riemer, Charlton Lions Club President Dennis Tucker, along with the school’s Lion advisor, Shelly Yeager-Doucette of the Charlton Lions Club, all spoke at the event.

During the ceremony, 25 students were inducted, each receiving a Leo pin, a membership certificate and a rose.

Oxford students inducted include Jenna Anne Gajewski, Sophia Gracia Balestracci, Catherine Victoria Sirard and Catherine Arlene Magnusson. Webster students inducted include Madyson Leigh Chicoine, Leah Marie Monti, Anna Elizabeth Lehtola, Cheryl Ann Dolson, Osiris Gonzalez and Dominic Jon Pigeon.

Southbridge students inducted include Wendy Ramirez, Kirsten Lily Congdon, Emma-Abigail Murangi Gachagua, Charles Michael Congdon, Eva Rafaela Jerez, Terry Simon, Gabriel Michael Osciak and Arminda Vienna Simoes. Charlton students inducted include Maggie Elizabeth Mullaly, Hailey Kate Williamson, Cassandra Alyson Tinsley, Caterina Margaret Schiappa, Kaylie Anna Richard, LeeAnn Davina Dagnese and Amanda Lynn Seidler of North Brookfield.

Student officers of the club include President Emma-Abigail Murangi Gachagua, First Vice-President Kirsten Congdon, Second Vice-President Sophia Balestracci and Secretary Wendy Ramirez.
