Community Forum to be Held April 25
NORFOLK — Town Administrator Justin Casanova-Davis and Town Planner Richard McCarthy, Jr. would like to invite community members to attend the Town of Norfolk’s upcoming Master Plan Visioning Forum.
WHEN:
Tuesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.
WHERE:
Freeman Kennedy School cafeteria, 70 Boardman St.
WHAT:
Community members are invited to attend Norfolk’s Master Plan Visioning Forum to learn more about the Norfolk 2035 Master Plan process and what it will include.
This forum, which is the first in a series of upcoming community workshops and surveys, will be an opportunity for residents to provide their input to help shape the town’s Master Plan.
At the forum, residents are asked to bring their questions, concerns, and hopes for Norfolk’s future and to be ready to share those with neighbors and others in attendance. The Steering Committee will listen to residents to help identify the main issues that are important to the community and address those in the Master Plan.
“It’s our goal to create a Master Plan that is reflective of our residents’ wants and needs, and to do so we will be hosting a series of community engagement opportunities to ensure that all voices are heard,” Town Planner McCarthy said. “This forum will serve as the first of many opportunities that residents will have to provide their input, and we hope to see many in attendance.”
The forum will include some presentation components to provide background information on the Master Plan and planning process, interactive activities and facilitated discussion in small groups.
Registration is not required to attend the event, and there is no pre-requisite experience or information needed to participate.
Light refreshments will be provided for attendees.
About Norfolk’s 2035 Master Plan
The Town of Norfolk began setting the foundation for its Master Plan, which is a roadmap for the town’s future planning and development decisions, late last year. The Master Plan will provide the basis for decision-making in Norfolk for the next 10 years. The last Master Plan for the Town of Norfolk was implemented in 2007.
The Town is working with the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) on the project, which is guided by a Steering Committee comprised of Norfolk Planning Board members, select board member at-large and residents. The Steering Committee members are: Chad Peck, Chris Montfort, Eric Diamond, John Weddleton, Gary Sullivan, Melissa Meo, Kevin Kalkut, Erin Hunt, Dan Feyock, Joe Burke, Jen Pittore, Charles Iacono and Pat Day.
The Master Plan will be completed in two phases. Phase one is projected to be completed this summer, while phase two will be completed in early 2024.
