On Sunday, April 9, at approximately 8:18 p.m., Tyngsborough Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash near 275 Pawtucket Blvd. Upon arrival, officers discovered two heavily damaged vehicles in the roadway.

A 2005 Acura driven by a 26-year-old Lowell man collided with a 2013 Nissan driven by a 63-year-old Dracut man.

The 63-year-old Dracut man was taken by ambulance to Lowell General Hospital and later transported to Boston by helicopter for further medical treatment.

A subsequent investigation that included review of surveillance cameras in the area determined that the 26-year-old was allegedly drag racing another vehicle on Pawtucket Boulevard prior to the crash involving the Nissan.
