Greater Lowell Technical High School Announces Winter Students of the Month

TYNGSBOROUGH — Superintendent-Director Jill Davis and Assistant Superintendent/ Principal Michael Barton are pleased to announce the Greater Lowell Technical High School Winter students of the month.

The following students have been selected as Students of the Month for Winter 2022. Each student displayed characteristics of Greater Lowell Tech’s core values, R.E.A.C.H., by showing Respect, Effort, Accountability, Commitment, and Honesty among their peers and in classes.

December Students of the Month: 

Senior Student of the Month Amanda Diogo

  • Amanda is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Robinson Middle School. Amanda is majoring in Information Technology Services and pursues a challenging academic schedule which includes Advanced Placement Calculus AB, Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, Honors Physics, and Advanced Placement Computer Science A. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society/National Honor Society and is ranked 5th in her class with a cumulative GPA of 4.31. She has received awards for Honor Roll/High Honor Roll, Perfect Attendance, Science Fair, Information Technology, and AP Environmental Science. Amanda is an active member of SkillsUSA and serves on the Chapter Executive Council as Reporter-Historian. In this role, Amanda has received her State-level Leader Award, State Proactive Award, Rising Star Award, and Technical Skills Display Award. She has also earned SkillsUSA technical awards on the in-house and district level in 3D Visualization and Animation. Amanda is highly engaged and has accrued over 100 hours of community service, including 35 hours with the Girls in Science/Earth Watch Marine Bioacoustics Data Review project. She is a member of the Greater Lowell Dance Club and Greater Lowell Tech Varsity Competitive Dance Team in addition to dancing competitively outside of school with Guiding Light Dance Academy in Dracut.  Amanda is an assistant teacher at the Projeto Aprendendo Português (Project Learning Portuguese) teaching kids of all ages the Brazilian culture and language. She is currently taking part in the CVS/Medicaid Analytics Program, a career immersion/mentorship program. Amanda was nominated as a student who embodies our Core Values of Commitment and Effort. She is a passionate, hardworking student who constantly seeks to improve herself academically, personally, and technically. Following graduation, Amanda plans to continue her education and pursue a degree in Environmental Engineering and Computer Science. 

Junior Student of the Month Atianna Noeuk

  • Atianna is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Bartlett Community Partnership. She is majoring in Medical Laboratory and Assisting and maintains an overall GPA of 4.31 which places her in the top 6% of her class. Atianna has chosen honors-level academic courses including Honors English, Honors Algebra 2, and Honors Anatomy and Physiology. She has received awards for honor roll, high honor roll, and Caught Doing Good. In addition, Atianna is a Peer Mentor and has participated in our athletic program as a member of the Lacrosse and Tennis teams. Outside of school, Atianna is an alumni and volunteer for Project 351, a nonprofit organization that promotes and celebrates youth-led service. In this role, Atianna has completed service projects with the Boston Food Pantry, New England Patriots, and conducted toy/clothing drives. Atianna was nominated as a student who consistently demonstrates our Core Values of Respect and Commitment through her consistently good work and positive interactions with staff, students, and special guests. Following graduation, she plans to continue her education and pursue a career providing medical care in developing and impoverished countries.

Sophomore Student of the Month David Barbosa

  • David is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Sullivan Middle School. David is majoring in Electronics Technology and is in the top 4% of his class with an overall GPA of 4.37. He has chosen to enroll in honors-level coursework including Honors English 2, Honors Geometry, Honors Chemistry, and Honors U.S. History 2. He has received awards for Honor Roll and High Honor Roll. Outside of school, David is an active member of Mill Church in Lowell. He is a teacher in their youth program working with kindergarten-aged students in the Sunday School. David has received awards from Mill Church for his leadership and contributions as an outstanding role model. He also works at Market Basket, on Main Street in Tewksbury, as a bagger. David was nominated as a student who represents our Core Values of Respect, Honesty, and Effort. He is described by his instructor as an excellent student who is committed to success and goes above and beyond to participate and assist other students. Following graduation, David plans to continue his education and pursue a career in the Electronics field.

Freshman Student of the Month Ariana Sotirakos

  • Ariana is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Sullivan Middle School. She is a member of the Greater Lowell Junior Varsity Soccer Team and Junior Varsity Track and Field Team. She plays Lacrosse with the Lowell Youth Lacrosse Association and plans to try out for the Greater Lowell Team in the Spring. In addition, Ariana studies jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and lyrical dance at Dance Infusion in Andover. She volunteers with Lowell Youth Basketball and Lowell Youth Baseball. Ariana is in the process of previewing our technical areas through our Exploratory Program and has completed pre-coursework in Advanced Manufacturing, Design/Visual Communications, Electronics, Medical Laboratory/Assisting, and Painting and Design Technology. Although Ariana enjoyed many of our technical areas, she particularly enjoyed Marketing Education. Ariana was nominated as a student who demonstrates our Core Values of Accountability, Commitment, and Honesty. She is described by her instructor as a class leader and role model who is always positive, engaged, and willing to accept feedback. Following graduation, she plans to continue her education at a college or university.  

January Students of the Month: 

Senior Student of the Month Olivia Giblin 

  • Olivia is a resident of Dracut and entered Greater Lowell from Innovation Academy in Tyngsboro. Olivia is majoring in Health Assisting/Pre-Nursing and pursues a challenging academic schedule which includes Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, Honors Probability and Statistics, and Dual Enrollment Chemistry with Lab through our partnership with Quincy College. She is a member of the National Technical Honor Society/National Honor Society and maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.89. She has received awards for Honor Roll/High Honor Roll. Olivia is an active member of SkillsUSA and serves as a Student Shop Representative. She recently earned a Senior Leadership Credential at the SkillsUSA SAIL Conference. She serves as a Student Ambassador during school functions and has participated in community service efforts through the Lowell Housing Authority, Wish Project, and local nursing homes. She is also a member of our Graduation Speaker Selection Committee. Outside of school, Olivia is employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at The Hunt Community in Nashua. Olivia was nominated as a student who embodies our Core Values of Commitment and Respect. She is described as a student who seeks opportunities to learn and grow and approaches situations with a positive attitude. Following graduation, Olivia plans to continue her education and pursue a degree in Nursing with a focused goal of becoming a Pediatric Nurse. 

Junior Student of the Month William Masse 

  • William is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from St. Michael School. He is majoring in Information Technology and maintains an overall GPA of 4.28 which places him in the top 4% of his class. William has chosen a rigorous academic course schedule which includes Honors English, Honors Algebra 2, and AP Environmental Science. He has received awards for honor roll/high honor roll and perfect attendance. In addition, William is a member of the National Honor Society and National Technical Honor Society. He has participated in numerous community service projects and serves as Student Ambassador at school functions. William is a three-season athlete as a member of our Cross Country, Indoor Track, and Outdoor Track and Field teams. In 2022, he received the Coaches’ Award for Outdoor Track and Field. Outside of school, William works in seasonal positions such as Lily Mack Christmas Tree Farm and Frosty Boy Ice Cream. William was nominated as a student who consistently demonstrates our Core Values of Respect, Effort, and Commitment through his positive interactions with staff and students, willingness to participate, and contributions in class. Following graduation, he plans to obtain a degree in Computer Science and pursue a career as a software developer or PC technician.

Sophomore Student of the Month Cenalisa Sokkol 

  • Cenalisa is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Sullivan Middle School. Cenalisa is majoring in Medical Laboratory and Assisting and maintains an overall grade point average of 3.95. She has chosen a flexible schedule that allows her to choose either a college or career path following graduation. Her current coursework includes Honors level English, Honors U.S. History, College Prep Biology 2, College Prep Geometry, and Medical Terminology. Throughout her time at Greater Lowell, she has received awards for Honor Roll, High Honor Roll, and perfect attendance. She is a member of our Environmental/Green Club and participates in community service through our school-wide recycling program. Cenalisa was nominated as a student who represents our Core Values of Commitment, Accountability, and Honesty. She is described by her technical instructor as a true leader who leads with respect, kindness, and compassion. She is committed to her learning, and always brings her own perspective and creativity to her assignments. Following graduation, Cenalisa plans to utilize her Medical Assistant certification while she pursues a degree in Nursing, with a long-term goal of securing a position as a Registered Nurse. 

Freshman Student of the Month Anna DiBona 

  • Anna is a resident of Dracut and entered Greater Lowell from Lowell Catholic. In middle school, Anna was inducted as a member of the National Junior Honor Society and received numerous awards and accolades. Here at Greater Lowell, Anna is pursuing a flexible schedule that includes honors-level coursework in English, Biology, and History, as well as College Preparatory Algebra, Digital Literacy, and Teen Health. Anna is active in her community and has completed over 50 volunteer hours during service projects with organizations such as the American Red Cross, St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Molly Bish Foundation, and Baystate Marathon. Outside of school, Anna works as a cashier at Market Basket and babysits. Anna is in the process of previewing our technical areas through our Exploratory Program and has completed pre-coursework in technical programs such as Automotive Technology, Electronics, Health Assisting/Pre-Nursing, Medical Laboratory and Assisting, and Early Childhood Education. Although Anna enjoyed many of our technical areas, she is focused on her career goals and will be making her final technical program selection based on the area that can best help her to achieve that goal. Anna was nominated as a student who demonstrates our Core Values of Effort, Commitment, and Honesty. She is described by her instructors as a proactive student who is dedicated to her learning and willingly offers support to her peers. Following graduation, Anna plans to continue her education and obtain a Master’s Degree in Social Work, and pursue a career as a caseworker with the Department of Children and Families or in pediatric hospice care.

February Students of the Month: 

Senior Student of the Month Juan Naut 

  • Juan is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Dr. An Wang Middle School. Juan is majoring in Carpentry and pursues a rigorous academic schedule which includes Honors English, AP Statistics, and Honors Anatomy and Physiology. He has also completed dual enrollment coursework in Chemistry through our partnership with Quincy College. He maintains a cumulative GPA of 4.08 placing him in the top 7% of the senior class. Juan is an active member of SkillsUSA and serves as a Student Shop Representative. He recently earned a Senior Leadership Credential at the SkillsUSA SAIL Conference and received a 1st place award in the SkillsUSA Open House Community Outreach Challenge. Juan placed 3rd in our SkillsUSA In-House Competitions and will be representing Greater Lowell at the upcoming District Conference. Juan is a member of our Varsity Boys’ Volleyball team and a Student Ambassador representing Greater Lowell during events such as Open House, the City of Lights Parade, and the City of Lights Mayor’s Reception. He is also a member of our Graduation Speaker Selection Committee. Outside of school, Juan is a seasonal employee with Palacio Construction. Juan was nominated as a student who embodies our Core Values of Effort, Honesty, and Commitment. He is described as a dedicated and reliable student who can be trusted to complete assignments to the highest level and who quietly excels without expecting anything in return. Following graduation, Juan plans to pursue a career as a carpenter with a focused goal of being accepted into the union and eventually owning his own business.

Junior Student of the Month Cameron Koza 

  • Cameron is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the James Sullivan Middle School. He is majoring in Computer Aided Drafting and Design and maintains an overall GPA of 4.18. Cameron has chosen a challenging academic course schedule which includes honors-level classes in English, Algebra, and Physics. He is also enrolled in Project Lead the Way Civil Engineering and Digital Electronics as well as Dual Enrollment Engineering and Ethics through our partnership with UMass Lowell. He is currently participating in the BAE Systems Focus Program and volunteers time at school events such as Open House and 8th Grade Tours. He has received awards for honor roll/high honor roll and perfect attendance. Cameron is a member of the National Honor Society/National Technical Honor Society and a member of our Varsity Tennis Team. Cameron is also an active member/competitor of SkillsUSA and serves as Chapter Vice President. Through his involvement in SkillsUSA, he has earned a District-level Silver Medal in Mechatronics, State Leader Award, State Proactive Award, and State Gold Medal in Personal Skills Display. Outside of school, Cameron works at Market Basket at Stadium Plaza in Tewksbury and is a seasonal employee for the Lowell Parks and Recreation Department teaching youth tennis. Cameron was nominated as a student who consistently demonstrates our Core Values of Accountability, Effort, and Commitment. He is an enthusiastic and dedicated student who consistently takes note of the needs of others and looks for ways to contribute positively to the school community. Following graduation, he hopes to attend Roger Williams University and pursue a career in Architecture.

Sophomore Student of the Month Jerry Brutus 

  • Jerry is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the Pyne Arts Magnet School. Jerry is majoring in Masonry. He enjoys the work in masonry and the autonomy he has when building projects. He particularly likes working with clay bricks. Jerry maintains an overall grade point average of 4.08 and has received awards for honor roll. He has chosen to pursue an honors-level curriculum including Honors English, Honors Geometry, Honors Chemistry, and Honors U.S. History. Next year, he plans to take Dual Enrollment Chemistry through our partnership with Quincy College and utilize our Step Up Program to accelerate his math course placement. Outside of school, Jerry enjoys cooking and listening to music, particularly hip-hop and rap. Jerry was nominated as a student who represents our Core Values of Commitment, Respect, and Effort. He is described by his technical instructors as a student who has distinguished himself in every way possible and who has an unparalleled work ethic. He is held in esteem by both instructors and students and his positive attitude contributes to a positive classroom climate. Following graduation, Jerry plans to continue his education at a college or university.

Freshman Student of the Month Julie Oum 

  • Julie is a resident of Lowell and entered Greater Lowell from the James S. Daley Middle School. She has had a successful start at Greater Lowell obtaining high honor roll grades in all academic and technical classes and achieving a GPA of 4.27. Julie is pursuing a challenging schedule that includes honors-level coursework in English, Algebra, and History, as well as courses in CP Biology, Digital Literacy, and Teen Health. Julie is a member of our Educator’s Rising Club and is currently preparing for the state competition. She is also an active member of our SkillsUSA Freshman Program and Drama Club. She is involved in her community and enjoys participating in local government/civic activities. She also volunteers at her middle school and assists with their drama program. Julie is in the process of previewing our shop areas through our Exploratory Program and has completed pre-coursework in technical programs such as Culinary Arts, Engineering Technology, Metal Fabrication, and Plumbing. Although she enjoyed many of our technical areas, her favorite has been Marketing Education. Julie was nominated as a student who demonstrates our Core Values of Effort, Commitment, and Honesty. She is described as a responsible, reliable role model who puts forth the highest level of effort every day in everything she does. Following graduation, Julie plans to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science before attending law school and pursuing a career as a lawyer.

These students went above in beyond both in and out of the classroom, displaying skills and kindness to their peers and staff.

“I want to congratulate all of our hard-working students for their dedication to excellence and for truly embodying our core values,” said Superintendent Davis. “These students help make our school a better place and I am excited to see what they accomplish next.”
