MIDDLEBOROUGH – Town Manager James McGrail and The Town of Middleborough are pleased to announce the hiring of Allison J. Ferreira as the town’s inaugural human resources director.

Ferreira began in her new capacity as the HR director on Thursday, March 30.

The Human Resources Department and the role of HR Director are both new to the Town of Middleborough. Both the position and department were formed to help personnel and collective bargaining management and to facilitate employee retention and satisfaction.

Ferreira will be responsible for the administration of compensation and classification policies and practices in accordance with collective bargaining agreements, town bylaws, federal and state statutes. She will also evaluate employee requests for position re-classifications and recommend appropriate courses of action, support recruiting efforts, candidate selection, promotions and more. She will also serve as a support for town employees.

Ferreira has worked in the Town of Middleborough since 2006, where she began as the assistant to the Town Manager before being named town clerk in 2011. She will be working in a dual position as the town clerk as well as the HR director until her successor is hired. The process to find a new town clerk is underway.

“Allison has worked in the Town of Middleborough for over 17 years and in that time she has truly become an asset to the town and its residents,” Town Manager McGrail said. “I have absolute faith that she will excel in this position while cultivating a progressive and forward-thinking environment.”

Prior to working with the Town of Middleborough, Ferreira worked in human resources at a law firm in Boston. She also graduated with honors from Aquinas College in Milton.

“I am deeply humbled and honored to be appointed as the Human Resources Director for the Town of Middleborough,” Ferreira said. “I look forward to working on behalf of the town’s employees and being a strong advocate of progressive ideas. I will continuously work on securing personal credibility, building momentum and developing adaptability skills to help everyone feel a sense of renewal and enthusiasm.”
