Errol Consolidated Students Participate in Yearlong Magical Movement Program with White Mountain Science, Inc.

ERROL– Superintendent David Backler and Principal Mary Fluette would like to share that Errol Consolidated students have participated in a yearlong science program with White Mountain Science, Inc.(WMSI).

The Errol School has worked with WSMI in previous years to create a theme of study for students to gain hands-on learning experience.

This year’s theme of study was Magical Movement, and students had the opportunity to learn about simple machines that create movement. Throughout the year, students have had hands-on experience with machines that create a variety of movement including levels, pulleys, ramps, wheels and axles.

Recently, students applied what they learned throughout the year by building Rube Goldberg Machines. Students worked in teams and each team was responsible for a section of the machine. Each team also had to determine how their component of the machine would fit into other teams’ components, as the machine is built on chain reactions.

Students will end the year by learning about projectile movement, which includes catapults and chemical movement, which includes lessons about rockets.

“This program is a wonderful way to watch students’ ideas come to life,” said Principal Fluette. “I want to thank White Mountain Science, Inc. for continuing to work with us and creating an environment for our students to learn and explore new possibilities through STEM programs.”
