Wayland Police Department Thanks The Village Bank for Equipment Donation

WAYLAND — Acting Chief Ed Burman and the Wayland Police Department wish to thank The Village Bank of Wayland for its generous donation of equipment.

WAYLAND — Acting Chief Ed Burman and the Wayland Police Department wish to thank The Village Bank of Wayland for its generous donation of equipment.

The donation, which included 12 medical kits and a total of nine Stryker Lifepak CR2 Automated External Defibrillators (AED), was accepted at a Select Board meeting on Monday. Feb. 6.

Because the AEDs are being purchased in bulk, Wayland Police are able to acquire three more devices than anticipated, which will be donated to the Wayland Public Schools.

The kits are able to fit all necessary medical equipment in a single bag, including an AED, Narcan, trauma kit and other important lifesaving supplies. Previously, officers utilized multiple bags and chose which bags they needed to take to a scene based on the nature of an emergency.

Additionally, all police units will now be equipped with AEDs. Before, only marked units had AEDs on board.

The total cost for the equipment is $21,460.

“All of us here at the Wayland Police Department are beyond grateful to The Village Bank for this very generous donation of equipment, which will assist us during emergency responses and will ultimately help make our community safer,” Acting Chief Burman said. “Having a single bag with important equipment will make a big difference and will help reduce the amount of time it takes to gather supplies when responding to potentially life-threatening emergencies.”

Chief Burman would also like to thank Detective Seanna Winner for facilitating the community partnership with the Village Bank.
