NEW LONDON — The Kearsarge Regional School District invites parents and guardians to learn more about learning and attention disorders at a workshop this week.
Dr. Peg Dawson, author and staff psychologist at the Center for Learning and Attention Disorders in Portsmouth, will speak on Wednesday, Feb. 22, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. at the Professional Learning Center, 114 Cougar Court.
Dr. Dawson will describe executive skills, and how those skills affect school performance and daily living. She will offer attendees specific strategies to teach executive skills, and to improve school performance and home expectations.
Dr. Dawson worked as a school psychologist for 16 years in Maine and New Hampshire, and has worked at the Center since 1992. She is a past president of the New Hampshire Association of School Psychologists, the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), and the International School Psychology Association, and a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from NASP. Dr. Dawson and Center Director Dr. Richard Guare have co-authored several books including “Smart but Scattered,” “Smart but Scattered Teens,” and “The Smart but Scattered Guide to Success (with a focus on adults).”
“We encourage our parents and guardians to attend this informative workshop,” Superintendent Winfried Feneberg said. “Dr. Dawson is a fun and engaging speaker, and attendees will leave with practical advise to help our children be more successful.”
