NEW LONDON — Superintendent Winfried Feneberg is pleased to announce that students from Kearsarge Regional High School graduated from the Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Program.
On Jan. 19, eight students graduated from Kearsarge’s Licensed Nursing Assistant Program and were awarded a certificate and pin for their tremendous hard work.
The LNA program requires students to complete 120 hours of course work which includes classroom instruction in theory training and pre-clinical skills, and clinical training at Woodlawn Care Center in Newport.
After course completion, students are eligible to take the state board exams for licensing nursing assistants. Seven students took the exam on Jan. 31, passed both the written and practical components, and will receive their state licenses.
This year’s Licensed Nursing Assistant program was made possible through grant funding from the Governor’s Office and N.H. Needs Caregivers Healthcare Heroes in the Making.
Extended Learning Opportunities Coordinator Rebecca Hemingway commended the efforts of the graduating students.
“Students in the LNA program have not only opened doors for a successful career path, but have also committed themselves to making a difference in people’s lives during a time of great need,” said Hemingway.
“I want to thank the Governor’s Office as well as N.H. Needs Caregivers Healthcare Heroes in the Making for our grant funding, which allowed us to offer this program to our students this year,” said Superintendent Feneberg. “I am proud of our students for their dedication and commitment to this program. The LNA program offers students a chance to gain hands-on nursing experience and I am excited to see where the next step in their careers takes them.”
