CANTON — Superintendent Jill Rossetti and Principal Geoffrey Zini are pleased to announce that Blue Hills Regional Technical High School will be participating in National Entrepreneur Week next week, February 13 – Feb. 17.
During Entrepreneur Week, students will have the opportunity to participate in entrepreneurial activities designed to help Blue Hills students network with entrepreneurs throughout the country and local community through collaboration, connection and education.
Daily activities include announcements highlighting specific entrepreneurs and video presentations highlighting successful Blue Hills graduates who have become entrepreneurs. As part of Black History Month, this week will showcase and highlight black entrepreneurs.
Also planned is a window decorating contest for students in clubs, sports, classrooms or vocational programs. For this event, students will have the opportunity to decorate a cafeteria window pane to reflect an entrepreneur or an entrepreneurial theme. On Friday morning, all students will vote on the best window and the winning group will be provided lunch in the Chateau restaurant at a future date.
A moderated panel will be held in the gymnasium on Wednesday, Feb. 15, for students in grades 11 and 12. During this event, a panel of six members of the community, including graduates and local business owners, will answer questions provided by the students and faculty.
Moderated panel guests include Brian Kalfin of HyTek Automation Solutions in Avon, Jonathan Neves of Green Energy Mechanical Inc., in Canton, Jeff Williams and Jessica Peters of Williams Automotive in Randolph, Sabrina Vixama of Discover Vegans in Dedham and Brian Hughes who has his own law practice. Vixama and Hughes are both Blue Hills graduates.
Additionally, a Student Entrepreneur Showcase will be held in the cafeteria during lunches on Friday, Feb. 17. For this event, current Blue Hills students who are entrepreneurs will be given the opportunity to showcase their businesses/products.
Student entrepreneurs include senior Anasia King (Anasia’s Sweet Treats), junior Robert Gregorio (Cardboard Angels), senior Saraiya Limage (Saraiya Eve), senior Jack Canavan (Canavan Woodworks) and junior Yen Tran (MisoKicks).
“We are extremely proud that Vocational Director Michelle Sylvia and Academic Director Dr. Paul Bavuso put a committee together to plan and implement Entrepreneurship Week. Our school is comprised of extremely talented individuals and I look forward to showcasing the work of the students who have begun their professional journey as entrepreneurs and inspiring others to get involved,” said Superintendent Rossetti.
