LITTLETON — Superintendent Kelly R. Clenchy and Instructional Technology Coordinator Julie Lord are pleased to highlight a student-led group that assists the District and senior citizens with technology.
“Tiger Tech,” led by Littleton High School seniors Nikhil Pratapagiri and Aryan Kulkarni, assists the repairs of school-managed Chromebooks, saving the school thousands of dollars by performing in-house repairs and reusing parts from end-of-life devices. On Thursday afternoons, the group offers tech support to senior citizens in the community through a collaboration with the Littleton Council on Aging.
The students believe that fixing computers is an important skill that can have a positive impact on various aspects of life. They also enjoy the aspect of giving back to their Littleton community.
“With this group, students not only get the opportunity to work together but also serve their community,” said Lord. “They are able to further develop their personal technological skills as well as those of others.”
The team utilizes refurbished parts to repair screens, batteries, keyboards, and touchpads.
Appointments are set up through the COA, and seniors meet with LHS students to help with technology issues, such as those related to smartphones, tablets, laptops, and social media apps. Seniors who are need assistance are asked to call the COA at 978-540-2740 to arrange an appointment.
