WOBURN – Principal Liz Jolly is excited to announce that Reeves Elementary recently installed a brand new Sensory/Calming Corner.

This new space is intended to be used by any student who needs it to relieve energy, take a break, or recenter themselves. The space was created to support the social-emotional well-being of students, which is a core value and priority at Reeves Elementary School.

The space features colorful walls, sensory lights, cushions, a play tent and more.

Students can use the space individually for self-reflection when walking to or from class or by asking permission from their teacher. The space also may be used for small group lessons, whole class lessons, movement breaks, quiet workstations and more.

“The positive reaction that the community has had to this space in such a short amount of time has been outstanding,” Principal Jolly said. “Students and teachers are using it in a multitude of great ways, some of which we didn’t even imagine when we built it. We are sure it will be a great tool and a safe space for the Reeves community.”

This initiative was spearheaded by Assistant Superintendents Maureen Ryan and Courtney Young, Principal Jolly and Assistant Principal Matthew Comenitz.
