Freeman-Kennedy School to Host Display

NORFOLK — Superintendent Dr. Ingrid Allardi and Town Administrator Justin Casanova-Davis are pleased to announce that Norfolk’s Freeman-Kennedy School will host the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit later this month.

Norfolk community members are encouraged to visit the Wreaths Across America Mobile Education Exhibit (MEE) at the Freeman-Kennedy School, 70 Boardman St., on Wednesday, Nov. 30. from 4 to 7 p.m.  All members of the community are invited to attend the exhibit at night, however, the exhibit is not open to the public during school hours.

The exhibit, which is co-sponsored by the town and schools, serves as a mobile museum that educates visitors about the service and sacrifice of the nation’s veterans.

“We are pleased to host this exhibit alongside the Town of Norfolk, as it’s a great way to educate our students and the greater Norfolk community about those who served our country while also paying homage to our veterans,” Superintendent Allardi said. “I’d also like to recognize and thank Freeman-Kennedy Principal Lisa Altham Hickey for coordinating and bringing this special program to the Freeman- Kennedy school.”

Added Town Administrator Casanova-Davis, “We encourage all community members to visit this exhibit to learn more about Wreaths Across America’s mission and hear stories from veterans and their families.”

Those interested in sponsoring a wreath in honor of a veteran can do so at any time for $15 here. Each sponsorship goes toward a balsam wreath that will be placed on the headstone of an American hero at the Arlington National Cemetery as an endeavor to honor all veterans at noon on Saturday, Dec. 17, as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. The final day to place a sponsorship is Monday, Nov. 28.
